We will begin with the nuts and bolts of riding the bus in Asheville and Buncombe County. We will then look at the Transit Master Plan, which is the ten-year transit plan for the city of Asheville and Buncombe County. We will look at the many entities that make transit happen. Finally, we will look at advocacy around transit. For fun, we will have two field trips on Asheville city buses (also called Asheville Redefines Transit or ART).
Instructor: As an ordained Unitarian Universalist community minister, Jeff Jones (firstname.lastname@example.org) is also an advocate for public transportation in Asheville and recent appointee to the Asheville Transit Committee. He strives for the best possible system for both necessity riders and elective riders. Jeff is an avid bus rider and has become known as “the bus guy” at OLLI, helping people find out how to use the local bus system.
