Our world has become an increasingly complex and confusing place in which to live. The rate of change has accelerated for some of us to an overwhelming pace. Working together in this learning circle, we will explore how to live life in a way that is better for ourselves, for others and for the planet. We will examine ways of finding happiness, meaning and peace in our lives. We will explore concepts of time, distraction and mindfulness, coping with advances in technology, current values in a materialistic society and issues related to over-consumption—both personal and societal. Patricia Grace (firstname.lastname@example.org) has been interested in exploring ideas for coping with the frantic pace of life in our modern world. This, along with a desire to pass on a better world to her children, has led to her discovery of the Northwest Earth Institute’s course on Living Simply in a Complex World. She wishes to explore this topic with others.
