How is it that homo sapiens, once lowly scavengers, came to dominate (and endanger) our planet? We will explore this question by discussing the international best-seller Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind.  Recommended as a must-read by Barack Obama and Bill Gates, the book offers an intellectually stimulating account of our species’ extraordinary history from insignificant apes to rulers of the world. In addition to the required reading and discussion, we will view videos of the author Harari commenting on Sapiens and other of his works. Required text: Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, ISBN-13: 978-0062316110.
