We will continue where French 2C ended. This means that this is a good refresher for someone familiar with basic vocabulary and with a good grasp of the present and past tenses in French, but it is NOT for the very beginner. The instructor uses a variety of audio and visual aids to introduce and practice new material. We will start in the last chapter of a beginning college level textbook. Homework to reinforce learning is requested but not required. Prerequisite: Participation in other French 2 courses at College for Seniors or the equivalent of one semester of college French or two years of high school French. Required text: Points de depart by Cathy Pons, et al, 2009 ed. ISBN-13:978-0135141120.

Course outline

Instructor: Renée Raffini (raffinir@gmail.com) has taught French at College for Seniors for six years and tries for a balance between immersion in the language and being sure participants understand concepts. Before retiring to Asheville, she taught all levels in French at public schools in the DC area. She used French while developing credit unions in Cameroon in the Peace Corps and studied at Aix en Provence, France in her junior year of college.
