Many people who are fond of classical music have little or no knowledge of how the music is constructed. In this course, we will learn some basic forms and how the master composers used and sometimes broke the "rules." Examples from the baroque and classical periods, popular and Broadway music will be analyzed as well as some 21st century pieces.

After studying piano and clarinet in Winnipeg, Ted McIrvine ( chose to get a doctorate in theoretical physics.
