Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an empirically-supported course that has been successfully taught in medical centers, schools, sports training programs, and the workplace across the country and around the world. You will learn mindfulness meditation as a means for you to take better care of yourself and to live a healthier and more resilient life. MBSR offers participants the possibility of developing a different relationship to stress. Research outcomes demonstrate positive improvements in physical and psychological well-being. Materials needed: Yoga mat. Prerequisites: This is an in-depth course that includes a full-day retreat on Saturday, May 5. Participants should review the course requirements found in the Course outline below.

Tam O'Shaughnessy (tam@sallyridescience.com) is co-founder and executive director of Sally Ride Science at University of California San Diego and associate professor emeritus at San Diego State University.  She now lives in Atlanta and this course is part of Tam’s mindfulness meditation teacher training through UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness.
