Topics in American Medicine, Part 4

We will explore four contemporary topics in American medicine. Each week we will focus on one of the following areas: dietary supplements, military medicine, medical marijuana, the dangers of medical screening and an in-depth exploration of the advantages and disadvantages of the medicine practiced in each topic area. It is not necessary to have taken the previous courses in the American Medicine series.

Course outline

Bradley Fuller ( served for 25 years as an adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s University in health administration and taught both undergraduates and graduate students. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian history and politics and Master of Arts degrees in public administration and psychology. Brad’s expertise is in health policy, managed care, aging services, organizational design, management theory and psychology. Paul Weiss ( is a retired physician who specialized in diagnostic radiology and nuclear imaging. His career included teaching, research, and serving on the Board of Directors of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and on the Editorial Board of the journal Clinical Nuclear Medicine. Paul’s current passion is science and the history of science.
