We will examine the basis and evolution of good science, with historical examples. With this grasp, we look at science gone wrong. We will stress the physical, biological and medical sciences, use global climate change as a case study and examine where science communication helped and failed us. We then survey fun science, based on experiences of instructor, students and others. Guest scientist instructors with high levels of international research experience will share their knowledge and expertise in their fields.

Hermann Gucinski ( has studied physical oceanography, estuarine science, surface science including that of porpoise skin, effects of ozone depletion and effects of climate change on both aquatic and forested ecosystems. He holds a doctorate in biophysics from the Roswell Cancer Institute, SUNY-Buffalo.
