2018 Winter

In the last few years there has been revived interest in the rescuing of the vast treasures of art and architecture in the world. We will explore the history of objects as the spoils of wars. The major focus will be on the looting and destruction during WW2 in Europe, but previous wars and current events also play into this topic. We will be looking at the who, what and why (as well as the when and where), the people involved, the motivations, the conflicts and the solutions.

Course Outline

Paula Withrow (pvwithrow@aol.com) holds a Master of Arts in history from Colorado State University and an enthusiasm for sharing little known historical facts as well as historical controversies. She enjoys teaching history—any history. She is especially attracted to the ancient past, medieval era, wild American west and wild people (some tamer ones, too).
